Abu Dhabi: Youth-based projects in the areas of philanthropy, social entrepreneurship, and sustainability have been announced by Emirates Foundation and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

As part of the partnership, both organisations will work together to develop programmes aimed at social youth development, and will also see higher education institutions under the ministry implementing the activities and initiatives of the Foundation.

“Our partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education is vital to the success of our strategy of promoting venture philanthropy as a self-sustaining model for social investment. Through this partnership, we hope to gain access to the broad base of our higher education population and engage them in a multitude of initiatives designed to make a strong, positive impact on the UAE youth,” said Maytha Al Habsi, Chief Programmes Officer at the Emirates Foundation.

Youmna Badowah, Assistant Undersecretary of the ministry, said the partnership is in line with the ministry’s goal of having young students play an active role in society, “This agreement with Emirates Foundation aims to promote and support the skills of students and provide them with a platform to participate in youth-focused programmes organised by the Emirates Foundation.”

“A key focus of the ministry is on ensuring that our youngsters are continuously nurtured and provided with the skills, knowledge, and experience that would enable them to make positive contributions to their society,” she added.

Emirates Foundation already runs several social programmes geared towards empowering young people and getting both citizens and residents involved in community work as reported by Gulf News, including Sanid, Takatof, and Think Science, among many others.
