Dubai: The Ministry of Education has reacted to a rumour that has been spreading on social media about an all-girls school in the country.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Education issued a statement on its official Twitter account @MOEducationUAE, denying that a male teacher in Masafi Girls School prevented female students from physical education.

The village of Masafi is located on the edge of the Hajar Mountains, and makes the border between the emirates of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

The ministry’s tweet in Arabic clarified that the school does not have a male physical educator employed at the school, as it does not follow the country’s tradition and customs.

As per Emirati culture, it would not be appropriate for men to teach physical education to women, and a female employee would be hired for the job.

The ministry also stressed that all female students are entitled to physical education, and urged social media users to stop circulating misinformation.
