Dubai: After the recent call made by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, encouraging the public to nominate 43 Emiratis who have been the first in their fields, Gulf News began speaking to well-known personalities in the country asking them to nominate Emiratis who they believe have contributed greatly to the UAE’s progress.

We approached Ali Obaid Al Hamly, Director of News Centrem Dubai Media Incorporated, and an author, who believes that a number of pioneers in the media field deserve to be recognised for their achievements.

“Shaikh Mohammad always comes up with smart ideas and initiatives that no one has ever thought about before. The UAE has always honoured people for their contributions and achievements, but honouring 43 individuals who have secured top place in their fields will be the first of its kind in the UAE,” Al Hamly said.

Al Hamly believes the initiative will serve as a historical documentation of the names of those Emiratis who have worked to achieve first place in 43 different fields, and that it will also end up inspiring younger generations to be successful.

“Younger generations will strive for excellence when they get to know more about these innovators and what they have done to reach first place. They will be encouraged to be innovative in new fields and will want to contribute more to be awarded in the same way,” he said.

When asked to share his list of nominees, Al Hamly said he wanted to focus on those who have made numerous achievements in the media field in particular, since he has been involved with this field for a long time and has personally known some of them.
