Sharjah: India’s famous quizmaster and founder of the Quiz Time TV show, Siddhartha Basu, visited the Delhi Private School in Sharjah on Saturday.

The quizmaster told parents and students to be wary of the new challenges “the knowledge revolution presents us with”, adding that it was essential to get to “the root of things to procure accurate, undistorted and appropriate information and data”.

Basu started Quiz Time in the 1980s on Doordarshan. He also conducts a number of live multimedia quiz contests on the corporate, college, and school circuits. He is the author of several quiz books such as The Complete Mastermind India and Encyclopaedia Britannica’s Know for Sure, which are very popular among school students.

Basu’s biggest quiz show success came in the form of Kaun Banega Crorepati, produced for STAR Plus in 2000, which ran for eight seasons. He is presently the chairman and managing director of Big Synergy Media Communications.

His company, which has been immensely successful in popularising quizzing is now taking up a new role with Tree of Knowledge, which will provide an online quiz platform with the motto of edutainment and infotainment.

Basu’s motivational talk was followed by an interactive session with the audience comprising parents and students, some of whom are members of the school’s Quiz Club, which has members from Grade 4 onwards.
