Dubai: The much-awaited grade 10 results of the Indian curriculum Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations will be finally announced on Saturday.

Over 8,200 students from the UAE have appeared for the 2017 CBSE grade 10 examinations and will be able to access their results on www.cbseresults.nic.in.

Dr Ashok Kumar, CEO of Indian High School, Dubai, one of the largest CBSE curriculum schools in the UAE, told Gulf News: “Of the 8,000-plus candidates from the UAE in grade 10, nearly 6,375 belong to Dubai and Northern Emirates.”

The results are likely to be released in the UAE by 9am and students are advised to log on to the website, enter their examination roll number, the name of the school and their examination centre name to be able to access their results.

Last year, the board released the Class 10 results on May 28. However, this year, the board wanted to change the mark moderation system but owing to an order from a state High Court, it had to continue with the same system resulting in the delay in declaring the results.

One of the highlights of this year’s results was the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (system) which had introduced the grade system instead of marks. The 2017 results will mark the conclusion of the CCE system which was a system of assessment that took the load of the final examination off the student’s mind by providing periodic evaluation which also included assessment of extra-curricular performances.

“However, from next year, the CBSE assessment pattern will change to 20 per cent internal and 80 per cent Board examination,” added Dr Kumar.

Among some of the highlights of the examination this year was CBSE’s humanitarian gesture to special needs students where special concessions were extended as well as relaxing rules to allow snacks during examination time for diabetic students.
