Dubai: Dubai Courts Department (DCD) has entered the Guinness World Records for a second time in a year by selling the most expensive ship in e-auctions for Dh74 million ($20 million).

In yet another ground-breaking achievement, DCD became the first court department to enter the Guinness World Records twice in one year in terms of the most expensive sale via e-auctioning conducted through smart applications, said Taresh Eid Al Mansouri, DCD’s Director-General.

In 2013, DCD achieved the Guinness World Record for selling the most expensive property for Dh94 million via e-auctions.

“This is an extraordinary accomplishment as it underpins the strategy which we have adopted at DCD to be forerunners in the field of judicial work. Actually it adds to the list of DCD’s achievements. Using smart applications has helped us have a better outreach to our clients, who interacted enthusiatically with the e-auction. Several investors from across the world participated in the e-auction and that influenced the bidding process which reached a high price,” said Al Mansouri.

The highest bidder was a big company that participated from its headquarters in East Asia.

Interaction with clients has grown locally and internationally through the use of smart applications over smartphones and tablets, stressed DCD’s director-general.

The accomplishment was achieved in accordance with the framework of the strategic partnership between DCD and Emirates Auction.

Abdullah Mattar Al Mannai, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Auction, and several chief judges of DCD were present when Al Mansouri received the certificate of registration from the Management of Guinness World Records.

DCD’s director-general expressed the department’s keenness to achieve continuous excellence and to provide all that is innovative to meet the needs of clients and the general public.
