Dubai: A driver has been accused of groping a woman passenger and coercing her to film him with his own mobile phone after he exposed himself to her in his taxi.
The 47-year-old Pakistani driver, J.W., was said to have molested the South African woman and touched her indecently before he forced her to take snapshots of him committing a lewd act in front of her in December.
“Yes I did … and I am sorry,” said J.W. when he entered a guilty plea before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.
“What do you request from the court then?” presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi asked the suspect.
“Please have some mercy,” replied the driver in courtroom seven.
According to the charges sheet, prosecutors said the defendant abused the fact that the woman was seated in the passenger’s seat when he molested her, flashed his private parts and forced her against her will to film him.
The 25-year-old woman claimed to prosecutors that the incident happened shortly after the defendant picked her up from Al Rashidiya at 2pm.
“He touched my thigh three times … he also groped my top. He also tried to put his hand inside my pants and touch me indecently. He also flashed himself in front of me and then gave me his phone and asked me to film him. He coerced me to behave bizarrely with him,” the woman testified.
When questioned before the police and prosecutors, the Pakistani was quoted confessing that he molested and coerced the South African to film him exposed.
Records said the claimant identified the suspect at the police line up three times shortly after he was arrested.
Meanwhile prosecution records cited the defendant claiming that he deleted the photos that the woman clicked of his private parts from his phone before his arrest.
A ruling will heard on February 25.
