Sharjah: Stunning works from six famous photographers will be on display all week in outdoor exhibitions across Sharjah and Dubai as part of Sharjah’s first international photography festival. Initiated by Sharjah Media Centre, the event has assembled a line-up of renowned artists for outdoor exhibitions that began on Friday and will continue until October 15.

The exhibitions have been set up by organisers of Xposure 2016, an international photography festival, just days before the main event begins on October 12 at Sharjah’s Expo Center.

The exhibitions can be seen outside the Sahara Centre, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Qasba and University City in Sharjah, and at City Walk in Dubai.

Photos on show include landscape portraits from Alberto Panizza, an Italian photographer, and action shots of yachts and aircraft from Swedish photographer Claes Axstal.

Food lovers can indulge in a visual feast from Dubai-based Drina Cabral’s exhibition, showing food in various forms. There are also sports shots on show from UK-based veteran photographer Eddie Keogh, and travel pictures from German photojournalist Ulla Lohmann.

The World Press Photo Foundation is also showing works from various photojournalists from around the world.

“The outdoor exhibitions invite visitors and residents in the region to explore the artistic world of photography,” said Tariq Saeed Allay, the director of Sharjah Media Centre, Xposure’s organiser. “We look forward to welcoming one and all to celebrate the art of visual storytelling.”

Events at Xposure include workshops, seminars, presentations, competitions, photo walks and a trade show for photography equipment.

Xposure will be held from October 12 to 15 at Expo Centre Sharjah. More information and details on the exhibitions may be obtained at www.xposure.ae.
