Dubai: Dubai Municipality on Sunday announced the launch of 20 initiatives for the Year of Zayed, which will include never-seen-before pictures of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

They include a huge billboard of Shaikh Zayed at the World Trade Centre roundabout and a giant poster on the facade of the municipality’s headquarters building.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of the municipality, said: “Since the era of [Shaikh Zayed], the country’s march towards progress has been based on a well-established approach and a wise vision in the field of extending humanitarian interaction with all groups and segments at different levels and in different regions. Dubai Municipality has been and continues to be proactive in this field and has launched many initiatives in this regard in application of this wise guidance inherent in the government and people of UAE.”

Dubai Municipality will also display the official emblem of the Year of Zayed during its posts on the municipality’s social media channels, he said. It has also started using the emblem in all its correspondences.

Lootah said the use of technology in the emblem aims to increase performance and efficiency and enhance the continuous interaction between the departments and the society to be “a bridge of knowledge”.
