Sharjah: Sharjah Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 36-year-old Indian worker.

The 36-year-old worker, identified as R.P.Y., was found hanging in his accommodation in Al Saja’a area around 8pm on Sunday. His roommate reported the incident to the police.

The worker was reportedly suffering from depression due to psychological and social problems which might have prompted him to end his life.

The official warned the public, especially workers, to stop thinking about ending their lives, stressing that it is a criminal act in addition to being against the teachings of Islam. He urged people to be patient and to seek advice from religious scholars whenever they have problems.

The incident is the second of its kind in a week. Last Wednesday, the body of a 44-year-old man, identified as A.S., was found hanging in a hotel apartment in Al Naba’a area of Sharjah.
