Abu Dhabi: An Asian worker was arrested by Abu Dhabi Police on charges of drug possession after 437 capsules of heroin weighing nearly four kilograms were found from the workers accommodation where he was staying in Al Ain.

According to a statement by the police on Saturday, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) received a tip-off about a Pakistani worker in possession of drugs with the intention to sell.

Colonel Sultan Al Darmaki, chief of the Anti-Drug Section at the CID, said the department tracked the drugs and arrested the suspect, identified as S.K.A, 27, even though he had been exercising extreme caution, trying not to arouse suspicions.

Upon his arrest, the police found five heroin capsules in his vehicle, while the remaining 432 capsules were seized at his accommodation in a labour camp.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to possessing the drugs with the intention to sell them and was referred to the authorities for further investigations into the circumstances of the case.
