Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have arrested an Arab woman drug dealer who was nicknamed as "Anqa”, an official said on Saturday.

She targeted female victims by luring them towards drug abuse in an operation called "the trap”.

Colonel Taher Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, Director of the Abu Dhabi Police’s Drug Control Department said the police busted her drug peddling plans.

She used to visit places where women gather so that she can get acquainted with them and lure them to into drug abuse.

The police received a tip off and found that the “elegant lady trader” possessed drugs to sell and promote, Al Dhaheri said.

A police team was formed and the woman was arrested when she was trying to sell eight packets of marijuana.

The woman also confessed to the crimes, promoting and trading the banned substances. During interrogation, she admitted that she opted this illegal trade to settle her financial obligations, the police said.

The suspect has been referred to court.

Al Dhaheri said the police will not hesitate to take legal action against those involved in drug trade, whether men or women.
