Sharjah:
Sharjah police have arrested two men accused of stealing construction materials in Sharjah.
The Pakistani suspects are suspected of stealing iron rods and electric machinery from a construction site in Al Soyoh area of Sharjah. A number of complaints of thefts were lodged with Al Soyoh Police station saying that construction materials were being stolen by unidentified people.
Police found that all reports of robberies were within the same area, where various villas were being constructed.
They suspected a Pakistani man who was seen driving a truck during the night and was accompanied by another person.
As both of them were behaving in a suspicious manner, police stopped their vehicle and asked them about the source of the items loaded in their truck. But they could not give a satisfactory answer.
They were taken to the police station to complete the interrogation.
The suspects confessed that they had been stealing the construction materials from the same area.
Their truck was confiscated and they have been referred to the public prosecution for further action.
Sharjah police is urging owners of villas under construction as well as buildings to hire guards.
