Ras Al Khaimah: Two Asian men have been arrested by the Criminal and Investigation Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police for circulating illegal telephone cards.

Colonel Abdullah Munkis, Director of the Criminal and Investigation Department in Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that police received information that two Asian men living in a neighbouring emirate, were circulating illegal telephone cards to shops and selling them secretly.

Col.Munkis said that they set a trap for the suspects and caught them red-handed.

On searching their vehicle and their houses, police found around 1,500 cards, valued at Dh45,000, which they had brought from outside the UAE, for the purpose of selling in the country.

The suspects confessed to their crime and the case was referred to the public prosecution for further action.

Col Munkis warned the public as well as internet cafe owners not to violate Telecommunication Regulatory Authority rules. They have also warned the public that they will be held responsible if they are caught making illegal phone calls.

Col Munkis urged all community members to cooperate with the security agencies and report any suspicious acts or crimes.
