Ras Al Khaimah: Three drug dealers have been arrested in two separate operations in Ras Al Khaimah after officers found a large quantity of narcotic substances from their possession, Brigadier Ebrahim Ali Kaptin, director-general of Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department, said on Sunday.

The suspects are two Arabs aged 24 and an Emirati aged 28.

Authorities started investigations after receiving information about illegal activities being carried out by the suspects who were promoting drugs to people in the emirate. The drug peddlers were arrested in a trap laid for them.

Police managed to arrest the Emirati suspect after he shot at two police officers to escape arrest.

Sharp tools as well as a gun were recovered from his possession at the time of the arrest.

Brigadier Kaptin pointed out that police cooperated with the K9 division and arrested the suspects.

The case has been referred to the public prosecution.

Colonel Kaptin pointed out that drugs have a direct impact on the human mind, citing the need to focus on the 14-30 age group to make them aware of the consequences of addiction, as they can easily fall into the trap of drug dealers.

Major General Ali Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, lauded the cooperation of police departments in the country.
