Dubai: Dubai Police arrested two men when they were about to leave the country after committing a murder, an official said on Sunday.

The two Asian nationals dumped the victim’s body at the parking lot of his residential building in Al Nahda area and fled to Dubai International Airport to fly out to their home country.

Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs of Dubai Police, said the Asian victim was stabbed and hammered and the perpetrators did not leave any evidence.

“We found a thin bloodline on the ground that led us to the two suspects. One of them was injured and his blood led us to solve the crime within six hours and [we] arrested the duo at the airport, thanks to Crime Scene officers who work[ed] hard to guide us to the pair,” Maj Gen Al Mansouri said.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Hameed Al Merri, director of the Crime Scene Department at Dubai Police, said that the incident happened in December when police were alerted at 3.30am about a body of an Asian man.

“We found a line of blood and it did not belong to the victim. We used K9 dogs to follow the evidence and found a hammer 300 metres away from the crime scene. It was dumped at an under construction building,” Lt Col Al Merri said.

The police gathered more evidence from the hammer, which was covered in blood and discovered that two attackers were involved in the crime and one of them was seriously injured. The police found that they had walked for 800 meters and used a car to escape.

“Dubai Police officers put a plan to prevent the pair from escaping the country. We suspected two people at the airport and one of had wrapped his hand with a crude bandage despite the serious injury,” he added.

When police arrested the pair, they confessed that they came to the country planning to kill the victim due to family problems in their home country. The watched him for some time to know his movement before assaulting and stabbing him to death.
