Sharjah: Two burglary suspects who stole money and gold jewellery from several houses and apartments have been arrested by Sharjah Police.

The suspects, identified as K.S.and J.N. of Georgian nationality, are in custody, said police,

Sharjah police stations received complaints from owners of houses and apartments that had been burgled while the owners were out, with the thieves making off with money, gold and a number of other valuable goods.

Police investigation led them to two Georgian men who entered the country on a visit visa. They were living in a hotel in Ajman and targeting empty houses and apartments in Sharjah and neighbouring emirates.

The suspects used hi-tech methods to enter the houses without causing damage or rousing suspicion. The suspects hid the stolen items in the place where they were staying.

Police found a large number of stolen items when they raided their residence in an Ajman hotel.

The suspects were arrested in cooperation with Ajman Police.

The suspects confessed to burgling the houses and apartments, police said, and revealed their methods .The case has been referred to the public prosecution for further action.

Colonel Jihad Sahoo, director of the criminal and investigation department at Sharjah Police, urged owners of houses, villas and apartments to take precautionary measures before travelling, lock their homes properly and install alarms and surveillance cameras for early intervention and detection of thieves.

People or neighbours who witness any suspicious activity must immediately report the matter to the police.

He also urged owners to register with the security service provided by Sharjah Police to protect houses from break-ins.
