Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Police have arrested a salesman for dealing in women’s bags counterfeiting high-end brands. The suspect was operating this commercial fraud from his apartment and was caught after a raid was conducted following a tip off.
The salesman had transformed his apartment into a warehouse for the promotion of women’s bags that were an exact replica of leading global brands and was selling them at a low price. The seller used to receive his clients at the apartment and sell them the goods.
Lieutenant Colonel Taher Al Daheri, Head of Organised Crime at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said that the suspect, A.M.S. was arrested following at tip off received by his department.
“We raided the suspect’s apartment and after interrogation we seized lot of counterfeit bags of various international brands. They were being sold in prices ranging from Dh100 to Dh200.”
However, when questioned A.M.S. said that the goods in his possession were bought 10 years back and he had no clue that they were counterfeit.
Al Daheri has warned buyers, dealers and other authorised distributors to be alert against counterfeit products. He also urged everyone to know their commercial rights by checking with the ministry of interior and to report any suspicious dealings.
