Ras Al Khaimah: Six drug dealers were arrested after officers found a large quantity of narcotic substances in their possession.

Among the suspects are inmates who were convicted in drug cases and are in Ras Al Khaimah jail serving their sentence.

The suspects would transfer money to a drug dealer in another country in order to have the drugs delivered to them. They were running the operation from inside the jail, Col Al Zaabi said.

Heroin, morphine and crystal meth were found in the possession of the suspects at the time of the arrests, said Colonel Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director-general of Ras Al Khaimah Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department.

Authorities received information about the illegal activities being carried out by the suspects and set a trap. They arrested the rest of the suspects when they visited the jail to take possession of the drugs from their accomplices inside.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to their crime and the case has been referred to the public prosecution.

Colonel Al Zaabi pointed out that drugs have a direct impact on the human mind, citing the need for authorities to focus on the 14-30 age group to make them aware of the consequences of addiction, as they can easily fall into the trap of drug dealers.

Major General Ali Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, lauded the cooperation of police departments in the country.
