“We coordinated with Sharjah and Abu Dhabi Police to crack down on drug dealers and seized 7.4 kg of heroin and 55.73 grams of crystal meth,” Brigadier Hareb said.

The first arrest was of an Asian visitor who was staying in a hotel apartment in Sharjah and was planning to peddle the narcotics in the country. “We raided the apartment and arrested the suspect. We found amount of drugs hidden inside a secret pocket in his travel bag,” he added.

The suspect then confessed he also had drugs concealed inside his stomach. He was referred to Rashid Hospital to extract the pills. Police seized 242 pills of heroin weighing 1.9 kg.

In a separate operation in Sharjah, an Asian suspect was arrested in hotel apartment. He was possessing 140 heroin pills amounting to 1.1 kg of heroin.

“We found Dh1,500 with him and he confessed it was his fees to smuggle the pills to the UAE and was given to him by his countryman back home,” Brigadier Hareb added.

The third operation was carried out in Abu Dhabi, when police arrested two Asian men in Al Ain. Police seized 284 pills of heroin weighing 2.3 kg in addition to 55,73 grams of crystal meth. The duo were peddling the narcotics in the UAE.

Dubai Police then arrested two Asian suspects and seized 2 kg of heroin from their possession.

“They confessed that a third suspect was supplying them with drugs and they were selling it. We arrested the third suspect later,” a police official said.

The suspects were referred to Dubai Public Prosecution after being charged with possessing, smuggling and dealing in drugs.

Brigadier Hareb praised the efforts of Abu Dhabi and Sharjah Police and their cooperation with Dubai Police to bring the suspects to book.
