Dubai: Three Asians were arrested in Dubai on charges of bringing heroin into the country and attempting to sell it.

The suspects were working with one of the biggest drug dealers who resides outside the country. The total amount of heroin seized was 3.45kg.

Two of the suspects were on visit visas and the third worked for a a private company in Dubai.

Major General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant to the Dubai Police Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, said that Dubai Police had received information in early September that one of the suspects, Z.H.A., 34, was in possession of a large amount of drugs.

A team from the anti-narcotics department headed to Z.H.A.’s location and arrested him near his home in Al Quoz.

Colonel Eid Thani Hareb, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police, said that Z.H.A. confessed to having the heroin and led the police to the location where he was hiding it. He had buried the drugs in the sand near his residence.

When the suspect’s house was searched, police found more heroin hidden in a safe, Col Hareb said.

Z.H.A. said that he acquired the heroin from two visitors, N.H.B., 38, and W.B.H.,22, who entered the country a day before Z.H.A. was arrested.

N.H.B. and W.B.H. were arrested at the hotel where they were staying and taken to the Anti-Narcotics Department of Dubai Police.

Col Hareb said they confessed to bringing the drugs into the country in return for an amount of money that the drug dealer, residing in the country they came from, would pay them.

They were all transferred to the Public Prosecution after being charged. Z.H.A. was charged with possession of psychotropic drugs for the purpose of promotion, and N.H.B. and W.B.H. were charged with bringing the drug into the country and promotion of the same.
