Fujairah: Police have referred an Emirati man to the public prosecution after he was caught on camera stealing a parrot from his compatriot friend’s house in Al Fasel area in Fujairah, an official told Gulf News.

The parrot is valued Dh12,000, the official said.

The official said the two Emirati friends were involved in a dispute and the suspect stole the parrot as a form of revenge. The suspect is identified as A.E.A., aged 26.

The incident was discovered when the owner of the parrot, R.M.H., aged 26, woke up [the day after the dispute] to find the parrot missing from the cage. He immediately checked the surveillance camera installed in his house which showed the suspect entering the house after midnight, opening the cage and stealing the parrot.

R.M.H. went to the police and filed a complaint. He informed the police that the suspect, a few days before stealing the parrot, had also damaged two cars belonging to the former.

Police arrested the suspect who confessed to his crime.
