Sharjah: A 37-year-old Pakistan man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his wife by stabbing her several times in different part of her body, police said on Sunday. The murder on Saturday night was discovered by a man who shared an apartment with the suspect after he saw blood under the door.

The Pakistani man is suspected to have stabbed his 27-year-old wife, also a Pakistani, following a domestic dispute.

Sharjah Police confirmed the incident but the nature of the dispute was not immediately clear.

A police officer told Gulf News that the incident took place at their apartment which they shared with another family in Abu Shagara.

The police operations room received a call from neighbours who reported the incident.

A team including forensic experts rushed to the scene and found the woman dead.

The body was moved to the forensic laboratory for a post-mortem, the official said.

The witness who lived in the same apartment told the police that he heard the couple arguing heatedly. He knocked on the door but no one responded. When he saw blood underneath the door, he broke open the door and saw the woman lying in a pool of blood.

The deceased’s husband attempted to flee from the scene but the other residents of the building caught him and restrained him until the arrival of the police team.

Police said that the couple do not have children.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his crime and the case has been referred to the public prosecution for further investigation.
