Sharjah: Sharjah Police arrested an Afghan man after he murdered his compatriot in Sharjah Industrial Area No 8 on November 19 by beating him with a sharp object, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The suspect confessed to murdering his friend, but the motive behind the murder was not clear.

A police investigation is ongoing.

Gulf News reported earlier that Sharjah Police had launched an investigation into the death of an Afghan worker.

The man was found dead in industrial Area No 8, an official at Sharjah Police official had told Gulf News.

The 24-year-old worker, who was identified as G.S.H., was found by his roommates at around 11am lying in a pool of blood, said the official.

They transferred him to Al Qasimi Hospital where he died later.

An official at the hospital said the worker was suffering from bleeding in his brain when he was admitted to the hospital. Initial investigations revealed that the worker was attacked with a sharp tool.

The body of the victim has been transferred to the forensic laboratory for an autopsy.
