Dubai: The number of criminal cases filed at the Jebel Ali police station went down by 70 per cent in 2014 compared with 2013.

In 2014, there were only eight criminal cases as opposed to 27 in 2013.

The statistics were revealed during the inspection of the station by Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina commended the 23 per cent drop in “worrying crimes”, which were only three per cent of the criminal cases recorded in 2014.

The number of deaths in runover accidents in the station’s area of jurisdiction also dropped from 37 in 2013 to 27 in 2014.

The station also carried out 22,868 services for customers.
