Abu Dhabi

The Federal Supreme Court on Monday turned down pleas of a defendant and upheld the Abu Dhabi Court of Appeals’ ruling of 10 years’ jail sentence for her.

An Emirati woman, A.A.M., 45, had her sentence of 10 years in prison confirmed and ordered to pay legal fees. The court also ordered confiscation of all equipment used in the crime.

The woman was found guilty of joining the terrorist organisation Daesh, communicating with its elements inside and outside the UAE.

The woman was also found guilty of transferring money to terrorist groups and setting up social media accounts to promote terrorist ideology and tarnishing the image of the UAE and its leaders.

The Federal Supreme Court also looked into a number of other appeals and set May 27 and 29 for ruling.
