Sharjah: A 16-year-old Indian girl died after falling from the 7th floor balcony of her apartment in Jamal Abdul Nasser street on Monday afternoon, an official at Sharjah police told Gulf News.
The police said the teen died due to the impact of the fall.
The police operations room was called at about 1.30pm and a witness said the girl was lying in a pool of blood near the building, the officer said.
A team from Al Buhairah Police Station’s Criminal and Investigation Department (CID) and forensic experts were dispatched to the scene.
By the time the police and the ambulance arrived on the scene, the girl had already died.
The body of the girl, identified as A.M.A., was transferred to Al Kuwaiti Hospital around 2.30pm, then to the forensic laboratory for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
It is believed that the girl committed suicide.
The father of the girl was taken to police station for questioning.
Sources at Al Kuwaiti hospital said the mother is in a state of shock and she was admitted to the emergency section.
