Abu Dhabi: Nelson Savier, an Indian cook in Abu Dhabi who is caught up in an identity mix-up, is losing his job, XPRESS has learnt.

Nelson said his employer is forcing him to resign after his story was reported by XPRESS. He said the company is not allowing him to attend office and he is practically out.

“I have lost my identity. Now I am losing my livelihood too. I feel so helpless,” the 31-year-old Keralite told the newspaper.

Recently XPRESS reported how Savier was jailed in May 2012 and stopped from travelling to India because of a Sharjah Immigration ban on his passport as he shares his name with another person.

Savier, however, claimed that he has never worked in or even visited Sharjah since his arrival in the UAE. Nelson has been working for the Armed Forces Officer’s Club in Abu Dhabi for five years.

However, neither the authorities nor his employer are buying into pleas he is being mistaken for another Nelson Savier who was reportedly jailed in Sharjah a few years ago for misappropriating company funds.

“We have asked him to resign as per immigration requirements. We have papers showing he is blacklisted,” his manager told XPRESS over the phone. But Nelson, who has a copy of the paper from immigration, insists his identity has been either misused or mixed up.

Apparently, the other Nelson is his lookalike and both share not only the same name, but even their parents’ names on the passport.

“I don’t know who is cheating me. But I want to prove my innocence and then go home to see my ailing parents,” said Savier.

He said he has not been able to travel to India to get married or even visit his father who has suffered two heart attacks.

“I have been trying to tell authorities to verify my passport number and date of birth against the other Nelson. Our names and pictures could be the same, but definitely not the passport identification number. But no one is listening,” said Savier.
