Sharjah: Police have launched a manhunt to arrest four members of an eight-member gang suspected of stealing a tanker loaded with 13,000 gallons of diesel from Al Safi oil company in Al Saja’a as well as stealing a Toyota Corolla car, cash and cheques, Gulf News has learnt.

An official from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said the gang members, all Asian, ran away after committing the crime.

The security guards in the company reported the incident to police who moved immediately to the scene of the incident .

The suspects ran away before the matter was reported to the police.

Police managed to arrest four of them while emptying the diesel from the tanker and are searching for the rest.

The police said the complaint was reported to the operation room on Saturday night.

It’s worth mentioning that recently Al Saja’a area has witnessed a number of thefts and fatal incidents over the sale of diesel.

In September, one person was killed and two injured in fighting over selling diesel in Al Saja’a. One of the injured is still in Al Qasimi Hospital receiving treatment.

In April, two men were stabbed to death while five others were injured in a brawl after an argument over selling diesel turned violent.

The fight erupted at the Al Saja’a industrial area among a group of men from the same nationality .
