Sharjah: Sharjah Police have intensified the hunt for the three armed robbers who took away cash from a teller at gunpoint at a bank branch at Buhairah Corniche on Tuesday morning.

The Habib Bank’s management confirmed to Gulf News on Wednesday that all employees are unharmed and they are in a good condition.

Work has resumed in the bank branch as usual.

The management also said the amount of stolen money in the brazen daylight robbery was small but did not disclose the actual amount.

A bank spokesperson confirmed that three masked men brandishing guns burst into the bank and snatched cash from one of the tellers before fleeing in a vehicle waiting outside the bank.

Sharjah Police have since widened their investigation and the hunt for the three unidentified bandits.

Police sources said investigators are reviewing closed-circuit television footage recorded during the robbery and gleaning details from eyewitnesses.

Gulf News visited the bank on Tuesday and found that all staff members were taken to Al Buhairah police station for questioning.

One of the staff members, who were at the branch on Tuesday, told Gulf News that she was in the washroom when the incident happened around 11am.

The bank branch was closed for the rest of the day.
