Ajman: A gang of four people who allegedly stole a number of vehicles have been arrested in Ajman, police said on Monday.

Major Mohammad Yafour Al Ghafli, deputy director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at Ajman Police said the gang stole five vehicles and two bikes parked outside their homes in dimly-lit areas in the emirate.

The arrested suspects are Gulf nationals.

The police launched an investigation after they received complaints from a number of car owners about theft of their vehicles.

The suspects confessed stealing seven vehicles from different areas in the emirate. They said the vehicles were stolen to drive around for fun before leaving it in deserted areas.

Major Al Ghafli urged motorists not to leave their vehicles in poorly-lit and sandy areas.
