Sharjah: A total of 6,000 counterfeit medicine tablets worth more than Dh216,000 have been seized in Sharjah in what the Sharjah Economic Department considers the biggest confiscation in the emirate.

Ali Fadel Abdullah, chairman of the Commercial Protection section at the Economic Development Department in Sharjah, said the drugs were counterfeit Viagra.

Authorities received complaints about an Asian man working in a pharmacy in Sharjah, who was selling fake Viagra pills which he stored in a warehouse in Industrial Area No 13.

The Sharjah Economic Department, in cooperation with Sharjah Police and the Ministry of Health, seized the pills.

Police found 240 boxes of counterfeit Viagra ready for sale, and each box contained 25 pills costing Dh900.

Police investigations revealed that they were being hidden in a warehouse belonging to a pharmacy in Sharjah.
