Dubai: Dubai Police arrested an alleged Asian drug dealer with more than 15,000 tramadol pills and some pieces of hashish in his possession.

Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation, on Saturday said the police had received reports from sources on the criminal activity of a 25-year-old man. The suspect, identified as R.M.G, was selling and promoting drugs.

“He was working as a salesman but he was also a drug dealer. He used to sell drugs to his friends and other customers,” Maj-Gen Al Mansouri said.

Police raided his home in a residential area and arrested him. Police also found hashish and different kinds of banned painkillers including tramadol.

“We searched his car and found a bag containing more than 10,800 pills of tramadol,” Al Masnouri said.

The suspect confessed that the drugs belonged to him but claimed it was for his personal use. He said he got the drugs from a person living in his home country.

A blood test showed that he was under the influence of amphetamine too.

He has been referred to Dubai Public Prosecution.

Maj-Gen Al Mansouri urged parents to monitor their children during summer holidays and keep them engaged with useful activities.
