Dubai: Dubai Police arrested a drug dealer and recovered around 8kg of drugs from his possession, an official said on Saturday.

Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant to the Dubai Police Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, said the Asian suspect was arrested from a residential area in Dubai last month.

He said that the 29-year-old Asian suspect identified as G.A.M, arrived in the country as a visitor.

“He was caught red-handed and we seized drugs and painkillers hidden in his apartment,” Maj-Gen Al Mansouri said.

Brigadier Eid Mohammad Thani Hareb, director of the police’s Anti-Narcotic Department, said that they searched the suspect’s apartment and seized 859 grams of heroin and 7.1 Kg of crystal meth.

“He had hidden the drugs at seven secret places in the apartment. we also found 5,083 Tramadol pills and a weighing scale which he used to measure the drugs before selling it,” Brigadier Hareb said.

The suspect has been referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution after charging him with possessing and smuggling drugs.
