DUBAI Dubai Police have recovered a photographer’s camera and lens, a month after it was stolen in a daring car break-in near the Tennis Stadium.

The 30-year-old news photographer, who was all praise for the police, said: “I could not believe my luck when they called me on Monday, asking me to go over to the Dubai Police Headquarters and identify some recovered stolen goods. My camera and lens were very much there.”

The equipment – a 5D Mark3 camera and a wide-angle lens worth Dh20,000 -- had been stolen from the photographer’s car after thieves broke into it when he was covering the Dubai Duty Free tennis championships on February 11. The car’s rear window on one side was shattered. “Hats off to Dubai Police for finding the thieves. When I thanked the police, they humbly replied that they were just doing their job,” said the photographer.

He said he had identified the stolen items and will follow due process to collect them. “They will handover the equipment over to the Rashidiya Police Station where the case was filed. Later I will have to collect it from the Prosecution Department.”
