Dubai Two British men with 30-year international criminal record were nabbed by Dubai Police after stealing Dh1.4 million from an Indian bank customer.

Police said that one of the men posed as a police officer while the other snatched the bag from the man’s car. The robbery took place in front of a local bank on Baniyas Street in Dubai recently. “Officers were dispatched to the scene almost immediately.”

Dubai Police chief Maj Gen Khamis Al Muzeina said, “the Indian victim had cashed three cheques and was returning to his car, where his friend was waiting, when the two British men approached them.”

Al Muzeina said the 49-year-old impersonator, Steven Oliver, knocked on the window telling them they were parked in a no-parking zone. Even as the two were engrossed, his accomplice snatched the bag stuffed with cash from the back seat and fled.

”Witnesses chased and caught Oliver before police arrived,” said Al Muzeina, “We organised a task-force to catch second suspect, Yuri Lewis Harris, 53, who was arrested the following day.
