Sharjah: A brawl on Saturday night caused serious injuries to several transportation workers who work in the loading and conveying of goods on Mina Road, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

As many as 30 transportation workers were involved in the fight and eleven of them were admitted to Kuwaiti and Al Qasimi hospitals.

All the suspects are of Pakistani nationality.

One of the suspects identified as A.H., 30, received serious stabs in his head from the brawl which started over a squabble about the conveying of goods from one place to another after they were removed from a vessel.

Police said Pakistani workers formed two rival groups and attacked each other with sticks and knives.

Police patrols and paramedics moved to the scene of the incident and transferred the injured to hospital where they received treatment. They were placed in police custody.

The remainder of the men who brawled were taken to Al Buhairah police station for questioning.

The police investigation continues.
