ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi Police confiscated 3.6 million banned Captagon capsules and arrested three Arab nationals following raids on hideouts where the contrand drugs were kept.

The huge drug haul was confiscated in two separate operations.

Colonel Taher Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, Director of the Abu Dhabi Police's Drug Control Departmen, said: “The police have arrested three Arabs while they were trying to promote more than three million banned capsules.”

In the first case, the drug traders stashed a huge quantity of Captagon pills inside a large metal storage tank in a warehouse.

This was to mislead the anti-narcotics investigators, Al Dhaheri said.

In the second case, two Arabs were arrested while trying to promote 612,000 Captagon capsules in the country, he said.

Major General  Maktoum Ali Al Shareifi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police, lauded the readiness of the police in combatting the drug menace and arresting the drug peddlers.

Al Dhaheri urged the public, especially the youngsters, not to fall prey to such deadly substances, which severely affect mental health and lead to dangerous consequences.

He also urged people to report to the police for any such suspicion presence of people in the society. “We love to work with the community hand in hand to further protect the society.
