Abu Dhabi:

Abu Dhabi Police have arrested seven Asians, including a woman, who are suspected of strangling a woman to death, an official said on Monday.

The suspects allegedly killed the Asian woman, aged 38, in her apartment in Abu Dhabi.

Major General Omeir Mohammad Al Muhairi, director of criminal security department, said the main suspect was a friend of the victim and lived with her in the same apartment. Following a dispute with the woman, he called the other suspects who lived in other emirates to come to the apartment. They allegedly killed her and then stole her valuable belongings.

A police team was rushed to the scene of the crime after receiving information of a body lying inside the apartment. Primary investigation found strangulation marks on the woman’s neck.

The police also recovered cash, computer, mobile and gold jewellery from the possession of the suspects.

Immediately investigations were launched and evidences were gathered from the apartment, proving the suspects’ involvement in the killing, the police said.

The suspects confessed to the crime and their case has been referred to the court.

Al Muhairi appreciated prompt efforts of the police team to investigate and arrest the suspects.
