Dubai: A worker has been accused of tricking a nine-year-old boy to enter the latter’s house on the pretext of checking a water cooler bottle and kissing him.

The 26-year-old Pakistani worker was said to have informed the nine-year-old Filipino boy that he had come to check the water cooler bottle and see whether it needed to be replaced in March.

Shortly after the boy allowed the worker to go into the kitchen, according to records, he took the boy by surprise, hugged and then kissed him against his will.

When the worker left the flat, the boy instantly called up his father and told him that the worker had kissed him on his lips.

The Filipino father then immediately called the police and notified them about the Pakistani worker’s indecent behaviour.

The 26-year-old worker was taken into custody.

Prosecutors accused him of molesting the boy.

When the suspect showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday, he pleaded not guilty.

He contended before presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi: “I did not molest the boy … I kissed him on his cheeks.”

When asked by presiding judge Al Shamsi about why he had kissed the boy, the suspect replied that he planted a brotherly kiss on the boy’s cheeks.

“I am innocent … I did not do anything wrong,” he said.

The boy’s father claimed to prosecutors that his son called him around 2.30pm at work and told him what had happened.

“My son alleged over the phone that the suspect came to our residence to check the water cooler bottle … then he suddenly kissed my son. He also hugged my son from the back and left the flat,” the father testified.

The suspect was quoted as admitting to prosecutors that he kissed the boy.

A ruling will be heard on May 31.
