Dubai: A student has been accused of stabbing his friend with a pair of scissors in his neck and killing him following a heated argument at the deceased’s residence, heard a court on Wednesday.

The Emirati friend was said to have invited a countryman and the 26-year-old Pakistani student over to his residence to stay over in August.

In the afternoon, the Emirati was heard shouting the student’s name, according to records, before he was seen by the housemaid bleeding from his neck.

The Filipina maid instantly rushed to the room of the Emirati’s uncle and told him what she had seen and then hid in her room, said records.

Police were summoned to the villa before on-site inspections exposed that the Emirati had been stabbed with a pair of scissors in his neck and killed.

Police apprehended the 26-year-old Pakistani two days after the incident.

Prosecutors charged the suspect with stabbing the victim to death.

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the suspect abused the fact that he was alone with the friend at his villa and killed him with the scissors following a heated argument.

The suspect pleaded not guilty when he showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday.

The suspect’s lawyer asked presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi to hear prosecution witnesses when the court reconvenes on April 18.

The maid claimed to prosecutors that the victim had hosted his friends from 1am till the next day when the countryman left while the suspect stayed over.

“In the afternoon, I finished some chores and went to sleep … when I woke up, the suspect was still there even as the victim asked me to prepare his bag to go to the gym. The victim and his friend were together and I heard the deceased shouting the suspect’s name suddenly. When I looked through the window, I saw the victim bleeding from his neck but I didn’t see how he got stabbed in his neck,” she claimed to prosecutors.

A police lieutenant testified to prosecutors that the suspect was apprehended two days later.

“During questioning, the suspect claimed that the deceased had invited them over to his villa to drink alcohol and then started asking them strange questions. The suspect purported that the deceased asked his countryman friend to have a fight with him but the latter refused and left. According to the suspect’s claims, the victim then turned to him and told him he wanted to fight him. The 26-year-old alleged that he grabbed the pair of scissors and waved it in front of the victim to frighten him and fend him away but mistakenly hit his neck. However, crime scene investigators concluded that the on-site inspection didn’t match with the suspect’s description of what had happened … primary interrogations revealed that the suspect and the victim had a heated argument and fought. An injury was noticed on the suspect’s leg,” he claimed to prosecutors.
