Dubai: A cook has been accused of molesting and groping a teenager near his house in Al Jafliya area.
The 30-year-old cook, B.B., from Myanmar, was said to have molested the 14-year-old Emirati boy the first time when he was trying to cross the road in May.
Despite having snubbed him the first time, according to prosecution records, the boy continued walking to the football pitch for training but the suspect molested him a second time in an alley. The defendant also offered to have sex with the boy in the future and asked him for his contact number.
Prosecutors accused B.B. of molesting a minor, a charge which the suspect denied before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
“I did not touch him … I didn’t do anything wrong,” the suspect told the presiding judge in court.
The Emirati claimed to prosecutors that the incident happened twice on his way to the football session.
“I left home at 5.30pm and walked to the pitch. Before I crossed the street, the suspect came and stood beside me. I told him I was going for a training session when he asked me where I was going. Then he told me to go with him and that he would show me a better kind of training … we walked towards a nearby building. I felt scared when he asked me to go inside. Then he touched my chest and groped me … he told me that I had a nice and sporty figure. I walked away from him and told him that I was heading to my training. He chased me. When I reached a mosque, he asked me to give him my number … and so I gave him a wrong number to get rid of him. He continued walking behind me to the football pitch. He groped me again in an alley and asked to have sex with me … I refused and told him that I am a Muslim and we do not do such bad stuff. So I decided to report him to the police and asked him to give me his number to call him later in the evening at 8pm … and so he did,” claimed the boy.
Records said the teenager informed his mother and aunt about what the suspect did to him and they called the police.
A policeman testified to prosecutors that the boy cooperated with them and contacted the defendant to meet him. The suspect was arrested in a sting operation when he was trying to grope the boy beside the pitch where they had agreed to meet.
A ruling will be heard soon.
