During the hearing on Wednesday, the defendant’s lawyer pleaded his client’s innocence due to the lack of evidence presented to the court.

The accused had also denied all the charges brought against him in the Court of Appeal.

Gulf News previously reported that on November 27, 2017, the accused was handed the death penalty by firing squad, and was also ordered to pay a compensation of Dh200,000 to the victim’s family.

According to reports, Azan went missing on May 30, and his body was found the next morning by AC technicians who initially visited the building’s rooftop to check a malfunctioning chiller.

CCTV footage from the building showed the suspect disguised as a woman who wore a burqa, as he mislead the boy to the rooftop to commit the crime.
