Dubai Three men have been accused of luring a businessman to have sex with a woman in a hotel room, where they pounced on him, filmed him naked and robbed him.

The 65-year-old Portuguese businessman was said to have communicated with a woman claiming to be South African via WhatsApp. He agreed to meet her at a hotel in Bur Dubai in August.

Shortly after reaching the hotel lobby, he discovered that the woman was actually Nigerian, according to records.

The woman is believed to have convinced the businessman to accompany her to her room for a massage and sex, where he was mugged, brutally assaulted and gagged by three Nigerian men.

The Nigerian men were identified as a 33-year-old merchant, a 25-year-old cleaner and a 27-year-old visitor.

The three men then proceeded to film the businessman who was naked and threatened to post his nude images online if he didn’t give them money. They used the same threat to prevent him from reporting the matter to the police.

The trio kept the businessman confined in the hotel room after they stole his wallet that contained Dh5,000 in cash and valuables. They also used his credit card to purchase four mobile phones worth Dh11,000.

They were, however, apprehended after police tracked them down through their hotel booking.

The suspects were accused of committing the crimes in collaboration with the Nigerian woman, who remains at large.

When they showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance, two of the suspects pleaded not guilty and denied the accusation of filming the businessman naked and threatening to publish his nude images on the internet.

However, they admitted to stealing the man’s cash and credit card.

A police corporal claimed to prosecutors that the trio had been apprehended at their residence in Sharjah, where police recovered the four phones that had been purchased using the victim’s credit card.

The next hearing is on January 3, 2018.
