Sharjah: Commercial tenancy contracts in Sharjah can now be attested online, Sharjah Municipality has announced.
The online service, which was launched a year ago for residential tenancy contract attestation, has now been activated for commercial and investment contracts on the municipality’s website.
The e-service is not only of benefit to both landlords and tenants with any type of residential contract, but will now facilitate contract attestation for real estate offices and investors too.
Khalid Al Shamsi, Director of Rent Regulatory Department at the municipality, said the service was expanded after it proved to be a fast and useful tool for managing residential contract documents online during the first phase of the initiative.
Al Shamsi pointed out that more than 270,000 contracts were attested at the Rent Regulatory Department in the last year.
He explained that in response to the demands of real estate offices and tenants to transfer regular services into electronic and smart services, the municipality has launched a range of new services.
The municipality’s Rent Regulatory Department now offers tenants and landlords more than 40 different applications and forms online. They include forms such as a deposit request, clearance request, confiscation request as well as other rent dispute-related applications.
With a high number of people visiting the Rent Regulatory Department, the municipality will also increase the number of dispute settlement committees and service centres in Sharjah to ease the long lines and waiting period.
“We have increased the number of dispute settlement committees to fasten the process of litigation and the provision of services. A number of dispute settlement committees have also been formed to help settle disputes between landlords and tenants before an official complaint is filed by either party,” he said.
A Sharjah Police office will be set up at the dispute settlement committees to ensure rapid execution of rulings. Al Shamsi urges tenants and landlords to educate themselves about each of the services provided and to strictly follow the laws in order to protect their rights.
