Cairo: The rapid spread of terrorism, incorrect religious discourse and misinterpretation of the correct form of Islam is threatening the Arab world, Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi warned on Thursday. Al Sissi received a media delegation from the UAE, attended by Dr. Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber, Minister of State and Mohammad Bin Nakhira Al Daheri, UAE Ambassador to Egypt.

Al Sissi said that he media has a very important role to play in combatting extremist ideology.

Speaking on cooperation between the UAE and Egypt, Al Sissi said that the cooperation between the two countries is a successful model for joint Arab work in thwarting serious regional threats.

The media delegation said that the helping hand offered by the UAE to Egypt is merely a reciprocation of the favour, as Egypt had long supported the UAE in its march in various fields, particularly health and education.

He pointed out that Egypt is looking to increase the number of Egyptian workers in the GCC job markets and improve their status. In response to a question by the delegation, Al Sissi spoke about features of Egypt’s economic plan, and pointed out that the government is committed to issuing a unified investment law that will remove many obstacles that impede the attraction of investments to Egypt. The law will also eliminate cumbersome bureaucratic procedures, facilitating the attraction of investments and improving the investment environment in general.

Al Sissi highlighted a number of massive projects that are currently being implemented in Egypt, such as the Million Feddans Reclamation Project, which will aim to address the issue of population congestion.

Al Sissi said that work is almost done on preparing the key plan of the Suez Canal Axis Development project. He emphasised the importance of completing these projects soon in order to achieve the desired results, and once again stressed the key role played by serious investments.
