A video has emerged of a kitten being rescued from a precarious ledge on the side of a high rise building in Singapore.

Rescue officer Yao Huang from the Singapore branch of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals eventually hooks in the feline, but only after a number of attempts.

The kitten was trapped on the 12th storey of a building in the Ang Mo Kio neighbourhood, according to the SPCA, who posted the video on Facebook.

“Our rescue officer swiftly brought the kitten to safety. The kitten was then reunited with its owner,” the Facebook post said.

Police were waiting at the bottom with an open blanket, ready to catch the kitten in case the rescue went wrong.

The video was released to coincide with World Animal Day on Tuesday.

Here is how it unfolded:

1) Showing teeth

The cat looks up at the officer as he leans out of the window to try and grab the animal.

2) Not this time

It took the officer several attempts to get the hook securely around the kitten’s neck.

3) Sad stare

The kitten seems to know the officer is trying to help.

4) Lifted to safety

The feline eventually allows itself to be lifted in through the window.
