Ramallah: Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails will only be allowed one family visit per month, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has said.

Prisoners were previously allowed two family visits a month, but the ICRC says the reason for the downsize is because many family members don’t show up.

The Palestinian Prisoner Club says this is because Israeli authorities fail to provide most family members with the necessary security clearances.

“Even small children and infants have been rejected, which is clearly aimed at punishing the prisoners,” the PPC said in a statement.
