Cairo: A bomb on Saturday exploded in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria, killing one policeman, security sources said.
The blast targeted the convoy of the city’s security chief who was not harmed, the sources added.
The explosion was caused by a bomb placed under a parked car, the sources added on condition of anonymity.
Four others were also wounded.
The attack comes two days before Egypt’s presidential vote. President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi is most likely to easily win the two-candidate election.
Egypt has witnessed a spate of deadly attacks since the army’s 2013 toppling of Islamist president Mohammad Mursi following enormous protests against his one-year rule.
Last month, Egypt started a major campaign against militants mainly in Sinai and the Western Desert bordering troubled neighbouring Libya. Security forces have since reported success in the drive.
