Sana’a: Thirteen passengers were killed after a public bus overturned on Friday in Yemen’s central Dhamar province after an apparent brake fault, state media reported.

One passenger who was seated at the back survived when the bus flipped over on a curve in the mountainous Jahran district, Saba state news agency quoted Dhamar traffic police chief Khalid Anam as saying.

Anam said it was likely the bus had a brake problem and that the driver lost control.

Road accidents are a major cause of death in impoverished Yemen.
